Our Colorado family float trip offers something for everyone, ages 4 to 94! Bring the kids and the grandparents and let them see the wonders of life on the Arkansas River. Water fights and quick dips in the river are a refreshing reprieve from the Colorado sun. You can paddle along with your guide or just relax on this Class I-II section as we row you down the river.
We begin this voyage at our Buena Vista white water outpost. The trip offers mild and splashy rapids with stunning views of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains. Gaze at many of the 14,000′ mountains of the Collegiate Peaks that surround Buena Vista, Colorado. Keep your eyes peeled for our furry friends. Often you can spot big horn sheep, elk, mule deer, water foul, hawks, and eagles as they frequent this area.

Family Float Half Day Rafting Trip FAQs
The Family Float Half Day trip is $106 per person. This includes a professional guide, all safety gear, and roundtrip transportation from our Buena Vista Outpost. It’s a great value for families looking for a safe and scenic rafting adventure in Colorado.
This rafting trip lasts approximately 3.5 hours and covers around 10 miles of the Arkansas River. It’s a relaxed and enjoyable float with just enough splash to keep things fun.
Trips launch from our Buena Vista Outpost. We provide shuttle service to and from the river, so your transportation is fully taken care of.
We offer two daily departure times:
Morning trip: 9:00 AM
Afternoon trip: 1:30 PM
Please plan to arrive about 30 minutes early to allow time for check-in and gear-up.
The Family Float runs through Class II to II+ whitewater. These are gentle, beginner-level rapids perfect for younger children, seniors, and anyone new to rafting.
We recommend quick-drying clothes or swimwear, water shoes or sandals with straps (no flip-flops), sunglasses with a strap, sunscreen, and a hat. A change of clothes and a towel for after the trip is also a good idea. All rafting gear is included in your reservation.
