Colorado White Water Rafting

Go for the classic white water rafting bachelor party. Take a trip on the world-class Arkansas River. There are many options from overnight multi day white water rafting trips where your group camps in a secluded camp site in Browns Canyon National Monument to a quicker half day rafting trip down The Numbers, an exciting class IV section. You can choose anything from a lazy Class II run near Salida all the way up to the Expert Class V Pine Creek. There’s also the beautiful and classic Class III/IV Browns Canyon section. There’s truly any whitewater rafting experience for your bachelor party!

Live Music

For the ultimate bachelorette party destination, the beautiful valley hosts two huge music festivals over the summer: Campout for the Cause and Seven Peaks Music Festival. They’re both hosted in a sprawling meadow in the shadow of Colorado’s iconic Sawatch Range. Campout for the Cause features yoga, campfires, and folk and Americana music. Seven Peaks Music Festival is country and country only. It’s hosted over Labor Day weekend for a great cap off to the Colorado summer.

Likewise, The Lariat, a remodeled 1800s saloon, offers excellent live music every weekend. They feature a lot of local Colorado musicians. Red Rocks performers will often include Buena Vista as a stop on their tour. On that note, factor in a Red Rocks show on your way to or from Buena Vista if you are having a Denver bachelor party.

Hot Springs

Buena Vista is within an hour’s drive of numerous hot springs. You’ll find a relaxed vibe, quaint cabins, a sauna, and five pools of fresh hot spring water diluted by the trickling creek nearby at the Cottonwood Hot Springs. For a bourgeois spa and resort feel, head to Mount Princeton Hot Springs. Here you’ll find hot pools on the side of Chalk Creek, large private cabins, and a kids-free zone for a small up charge in your pass. You can also head a bit further out of town to Joyful Journeys, where you’ll get stunning views of the San Luis Valley and Sangre de Cristo mountain range.

Hiking

The Arkansas River Valley is home to the highest concentration of 14,000-foot peaks in Colorado. Mount Princeton dominates the view, and just north of Buena Vista is Mount Elbert, Colorado’s highest peak. All of them can be bagged in a day hike, but make sure your group is in good shape and are accustomed to the altitude. There’s also plenty of more casual hikes nearby with beautiful views, waterfalls, and overlooks. You might consider Brown’s Creek Falls or Ptarmigan Lake.

Off-roading / ATV Rentals

Surrounded by extensive BLM and National Forest land, you’ll find endless roads for off-roading. You can even rent Jeeps or ATV’s in Buena Vista if you don’t have ATVs of your own. Explore Tin Cup Pass or the ghost town of St. Elmo, or rip around the huge Four-Mile Recreation Area.

For the best Colorado bachelor party, there’s something for everyone in Buena Vista.
